[DEMO] Namasagali secondary school borehole
A borehole on school grounds for 1,320 boarding pupils and staff. Drilled to 71 m; pump installation and yield testing scheduled.
Why schools are different
Boarding schools consume more water per head than villages, need it concentrated at three points in the day, and lose teaching hours when pupils fetch it. Sizing for a school is a different calculation from sizing for the same number of villagers.
Progress
Drilling reached 71 metres and struck a workable formation in fractured basement. Yield testing happens with the pump installation rather than being estimated from the drilling — a figure taken during drilling is not a yield.
Who holds the contract
The school will hold the maintenance contract directly rather than through a village committee. It has a budget line, a bursar and a lockable store, which a committee usually does not.
